IFA 2025: Lenovo shows a concept laptop with a swiveling screen

We’ve seen dual-screen laptops before. We’ve seen devices with flexible displays that unfold into larger ones, as well as models with sliding screens to enlarge the workspace. Many of these concepts have been realized by Lenovo, and now the company has unveiled another unusual idea. At IFA 2025, it showed a concept for a laptop with a screen that can be rotated between vertical and horizontal orientation.
The new ThinkBook VertiFlex, also known as Project Pivo, features a 14-inch display mounted on a mechanism that allows the screen to be used in both positions.
Lenovo emphasizes that vertical screen orientation is convenient for reading long documents, writing or checking code, and multitasking. What’s more, when the display is upright, the space behind it can be used as a stand for a smartphone, making the notebook even more versatile.
Lenovo emphasizes that a vertical display is great for reading long documents, writing or checking code, and for multitasking.

Despite the unusual mechanism, the laptop is only about 18mm thick and weighs 1.39kg. However, the company did not specify what materials the body is made of, nor did it reveal the screen resolution or the display technology used. It’s also unclear whether the swivel mechanism is motorized or whether you’ll have to rotate it manually.
Lenovo has not yet said whether it plans to release the ThinkBook VertiFlex for sale, nor has it disclosed the specifications or durability level of the design.
It’s worth noting that the idea isn’t unique. A few years ago, Taiwanese company Compal showed off a similar concept called the Pivobook with a similar rotating screen. The name coincidence is probably due to a play on the word “pivot.”
