IFA 2025: Acer unveiled the Chromebook Plus Spin 514 with MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor and new Chromeboxes

Acer announced the premium convertible Chromebook Plus Spin 514, the company’s first notebook based on the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor with integrated NPU. The device combines energy-efficient AI-enabled performance, long battery life, and a ruggedized chassis. The company also showed off two new desktop solutions, the Chromebox CXI6 and Chromebox Mini CXM2.

Chromebook Plus Spin 514: the first Acer with MediaTek Kompanio Ultra

The Chromebook Plus Spin 514 (CP514-5HN) gets a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor with up to 50 TOPS performance for artificial intelligence tasks. The chip supports generative AI, workflow automation and offline functions. The Arm Immortalis-G925 MC11 GPU is responsible for graphics. The device has a battery life of up to 17 hours.

The notebook features a 14-inch touchscreen display with WQXGA+ (2800×1800) or WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass and anti-reflective coating. The device weighs 1.36 kg and is 15.5 mm thick.

A convertible design with a 360-degree hinge allows the laptop to be used in tablet, display and “tent” modes. It’s MIL-STD 810H compliant and can withstand drops of up to 122 centimeters.

For handwritten notes, USI 2.0 styluses are supported. Built-in AI features include smart tab and file grouping, image editing, and quick access to tools via the Quick Insert key.

A free 12-month Google AI Pro subscription is also available with access to advanced Gemini, Flow and NotebookLM models, as well as 2 TB of cloud storage.

Communication and multimedia capabilities

The model features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB-C ports, and an optional backlit keyboard. Video communication is supported by a 5MP or Full HD webcam with AI-powered tools like noise reduction, auto-enhancement, and background blur. For sound, there are stereo speakers with DTS.

New Chromebox CXI6 and Mini CXM2

  • Chromebox CXI6: a compact but productive option based on Intel Core processors up to 7,150U. Supports up to four independent monitors via HDMI and USB-C. It has five USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, Wi-Fi 6E and LAN 2.5G.
  • Chromebox Mini CXM2: an ultra-compact solution with a fanless cooling system and Intel Core 3 N350 processor. It supports up to three monitors, has five USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C and HDMI.

The two models can be secured with a VESA mount and are additionally secured with a Kensington lock.
