Dyson has unveiled the PencilVac – the world’s thinnest vacuum cleaner
By ForGeeks Dyson has announced the PencilVac, an ultra-thin cordless vacuum cleaner that measures just 38mm in diameter and weighs 1.8kg. The product debuted in Japan and will be available in other markets soon.
PencilVac features a new 28mm diameter Hyperdymium 140k motor that spins at speeds up to 140,000rpm and delivers 55 AW of suction power. By comparison, Samsung’s flagship Bespoke AI Jet Ultra offers up to 400 AW, but Dyson is focusing on compactness and maneuverability rather than power.
One of the key features of the PencilVac was the Fluffycones nozzle with four conical brushes that rotate in opposite directions. This design prevents hair from winding up and ensures effective cleaning in any direction, including hard-to-reach areas along skirting boards. It also features laser illumination to detect the smallest dust particles on hard floors.
The PencilVac uses two-stage linear filtration instead of a traditional cyclone system to capture up to 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The 0.08-liter dust collector features a dust compression mechanism and a hygienic one-touch cleaning system.
PencilVac is the first Dyson cordless vacuum cleaner to support the MyDyson app. Through the app, users can monitor charge levels, receive maintenance recommendations and update device settings.
Battery life is up to 30 minutes in Eco mode, with a quick battery swap option. The kit also includes a magnetic floor station for storage and charging.
PencilVac is aimed at owners of compact spaces with hard flooring where lightness, maneuverability and easy storage are important. It will go on sale in Japan in May 2025 and is expected to be available in the U.S. and other countries in 2026.
