Samsung and LG may move production from Mexico to the US

Samsung and LG are considering moving some of their factories from Mexico to the US. The White House reports this, confirming the South Korean companies’ plans to expand production in the Americas.
Reasons for moving plants
The two brands were mentioned on the official “50 Wins for Americans in the First 50 Days of the Trump Presidency” list, but specific details about the products that will be produced at the new facilities were not disclosed.
South Korean media reports say Samsung and LG are considering moving production of refrigerators and washing machines to the United States. The move is aimed at reducing the impact of new U.S. tariffs imposed on imported goods.
After his election, Donald Trump set out to make the U.S. a world manufacturing center and began imposing duties on goods from countries that heavily tax U.S. exports. Among them are China, India and South Korea.
Investment in U.S. manufacturing
Samsung has already invested billions of dollars in building semiconductor factories in the US. The company may now follow the same path in home appliances, minimizing the risks associated with the new economic measures. Following Samsung and LG, other companies are also expected to start investing in U.S. manufacturing to reduce the impact of the new tariffs.
