Ilon Musk sued Apple and OpenAI for conspiring against competitors

Ilon Musk’s company X and xAI has filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI, accusing them of conspiring to stifle competition in the artificial intelligence and smartphone technology market.
The lawsuit alleges that in an effort to maintain its monopoly in the smartphone market, Apple is joining forces with OpenAI, a company that benefits greatly from the suppression of competitors and restrictions on generative chatbots. Specifically, Apple’s partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its systems is cited, which the plaintiff argues contributes to the monopolization of the market.

This lawsuit is the continuation of a long series of conflicts between Ilon Musk and Sam Altman, co-founder and co-chairman of OpenAI. Musk had previously tried to prevent OpenAI from becoming a for-profit entity and offered to buy it for $97.4 billion – an offer that was rejected.
Musk’s accusations are of particular interest amid rumors that he is allegedly using Platform X to manipulate for his own gain and harm competitors. In his tweet, he said, “No AI company other than OpenAI can take the top spot in the App Store,” hinting at possible restrictions from Apple.

The partnership between Apple and OpenAI was announced last June, with joint features expected as early as December. So far, representatives from both companies have not commented on the situation.
