Honor and Porsche Design’s collaboration has come to an end
At yesterday’s presentation, Honor unveiled several new products at once, including the Magic 8 Pro Air and the Watch GS 5. However, the main device of the event was the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design.
The smartphone has a striking, recognizable design and the most advanced hardware of 2026. It’s also Honor’s first smartphone with support for a professional mobile shooting suite. However, shortly after the announcement, it was revealed that this model will be the final model in Honor’s collaboration with Porsche Design.

The information was confirmed by Honor’s performance development engineer Chen Ligeng. In a post on Weibo, he stated that the new smartphone is the «last pinnacle of the Porsche Design» series. In other words, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design will be the last Honor device to be released under the legendary automaker’s brand.
This brings to a close a partnership that began just over two years ago. Honor announced a long-term strategic partnership with Porsche Design in December 2023, and throughout 2024, the companies unveiled several flagship devices as part of the joint lineup.

Honor did not disclose the reasons for the termination of the partnership. Porsche Design has also made no official comment. In the smartphone industry, such collaborations are often cyclical and depend on marketing objectives rather than long-term product strategy.
The Porsche Design series has nonetheless played an important role in shaping Honor’s premium image during a key period of the company’s growth after its separation from Huawei.
