Apple announced the winners of the Design Awards 2025

Shortly before WWDC 2025 opened, Apple summarized its annual Design Awards, honoring the best apps and games for outstanding user experience. This year, the company once again focused on independent developers and startups – and once again ignored apps based on generative AI.
This is the second year in a row that Apple has bypassed AI-driven products. Still, the winners include apps that utilize standalone AI features. For example, the Speechify read-aloud app was honored in the Inclusivity category, and the Moises music editor was a finalist.
Apple has traditionally emphasized how developers use its tools to create quality and affordable solutions, rather than focusing on hype technologies.
The company gave out 12 awards in total – one in each of the App and Game subcategories in six categories: Enjoyment and Entertainment, Innovation, Interaction, Inclusivity, Social Impact, and Graphics and Visualization.
Apple’s traditional focus is on how developers use its tools to create quality, accessible solutions.
The Social Impact category was won by Watch Duty, an app that spreads awareness during the California wildfires. In the Innovation category, the best app was Play, an interface prototyping tool from a startup backed by the M13 Foundation.
In the Social Impact category, the best app was Play, a tool for prototyping interfaces from a startup backed by the M13 Foundation.
