Tesla rolls out spring update: adaptive headlights, new autopilot features and improved navigation

Tesla has unveiled a major software update called “Spring Release,” which is available for all of the company’s models. Unlike the smaller updates that come out regularly, this release brings together several significant features and improvements at once.

One of the major updates is adaptive headlights, which are now available to Tesla owners in the U.S. and Canada. Previously, the feature only worked in Europe. The system uses matrix headlights that automatically adjust the brightness of the high beam, dimming individual pixels so as not to blind other drivers. Activation occurs through the vehicle control menu under “Lighting,” but the feature is only available for models with the appropriate equipment.

Owners of the updated Tesla Model S and Model X (released between 2021 and 2025) will get an improved blind spot camera image layout. The video is now displayed on the main screen in front of the driver, making it easier to monitor when changing lanes.

Safety systems have also been improved. Dashcam and Sentry Mode features now support recording from side cameras located on the center body pillars (B-pillars). This increases the number of active cameras from four to six, providing a more complete picture of what’s happening around the car. The Dashcam Viewer app has also been redesigned with a grid structure and swipe controls for easy viewing of recordings.

The Trip Planner (Trip Planner) has also been updated. Drivers can now choose between three route options: “Fastest,” “Best Amenities” (routes with stops near highly rated restaurants, stores, and restrooms), and “Fewer Stops” for those who want to cut down on the number of recharges on the road.

For those who want to reduce the number of charges on the road, the Trip Planner is now available.

Cybertruck owners will get two Autopilot-related improvements. Autopilot automatically activates “Comfort Drive Mode,” which provides a smoother, more comfortable ride. Lane Departure Avoidance Assist has also been improved to not only warn of lane departures, but can also gently steer the vehicle back.
