Tesla recalls all Cybertruck due to pedal problem

Tesla recalls all Cybertruck due to pedal problem

Tesla will not produce new Cybertrucks and will recall nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks due to a potentially serious problem with the accelerator pedal. According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the pedal cover can dislodge and get stuck in the floor lining, causing the vehicle to accelerate even if the driver lifts his or her foot. And that’s risky.

The cause of the problem — too much grease on the pedal cover.

Videos circulating on the internet show that the culprit is excessive grease on the pedal cover. This allows it to slide up and jam, preventing the pedal from fully returning to its original position. This can lead to unintended acceleration, creating a safety hazard.

Tesla has confirmed that it will replace or repair the faulty gas pedal pedals at no cost to owners. Official recall notices will be sent out in June, but concerned Cybertruck drivers can contact Tesla now at +1-877-798-3752 and reference the service number SB-24-33-003 to schedule a service appointment.

According to the recall notice, Tesla will send out a recall notice in June.

This recall comes amid a wave of recent news for Tesla Cybertruck owners. Deliveries have been delayed and many were likely informed of the impending recall, attributing the delay to the recall. The news followed Tesla’s first year-over-year decline in deliveries since 2020 — down 20 percent from the previous quarter. The company also made layoffs to cut costs and improve productivity. While the recent period has been challenging, Tesla has said it will focus on efficiency through 2024, and CEO Elon Musk has previously hinted at a slowdown in sales growth this year.
