“Russian Post” is testing unmanned trucks for parcel transportation

Russian Post has begun testing an unmanned electric truck, Evocargo N1, developed by EvoCargo. The autonomous vehicle will be used in the postal operator’s logistics center.
The experiment is being conducted in the logistics center “Vnukovo-2”. Before the real tests, EvoCargo specialists created a three-dimensional model of the truck, where it underwent virtual training. Now the unmanned truck will carry real mail items.
Russian Post says it will need a regular laptop to control the truck’s operation. Igor Tushakovsky, the company’s director general, said the use of such unmanned vehicles will eliminate the human factor in logistics tasks and ensure smooth operation of the service.
The Evocargo N1 truck is capable of carrying loads weighing up to 2 tons and driving up to 200 km on a single charge at a maximum speed of 20 km/h. The manufacturer claims that the vehicle is able to travel fully autonomously, taking into account all the surrounding conditions.
