Mitsubishi’s electric car will be built on the AmpR Medium (formerly known as CMF-EV) platform, which is already used in models such as the Nissan Ariya, Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric.
The new Mitsubishi crossover will reportedly be a sort of “twin” to the Nissan model that will replace the Leaf. Production of the Nissan version will begin by the end of this year, while the Mitsubishi version is scheduled to launch next year.

Coupe crossovers with global ambitions
The two models will be presented in a coupe-crossover format with a sloping roof line. The exterior of the cars remains a mystery for now, but rumors claim that the similarities between them will be even closer than Hyundai and Kia’s counterparts on a common platform.

Ambitious electrification plans
Mitsubishi aims to increase electrified car sales to 50% by 2030, and to switch entirely to electric vehicles by 2035.
The brand plans to launch nine new electric models by 2028. These include two electric cars on Renault/Nissan platforms, an in-house-built crossover and a mid-size pickup truck, which will again be the result of a collaboration with Nissan and assembled in Mexico.
