Volga K30 crossover in China will be called Changan CS35 Max

Information about it appeared in the open database of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the People’s Republic of China, where photos and characteristics of the new car were published.
The original Oshan X5 Plus, which was the basis for the Volga K30 project, was introduced in the fall of 2022. Now Changan has started winding down the Oshan subsidiary brand and is moving models under the main brand. Externally, the Changan CS35 Max differs from the original only by nameplates, mirrors and radiator grille in the signature Uni style. Technical characteristics remain the same: under the hood there is a 1.5-liter turbo engine with an output of 192 hp and torque of 300 Nm. It is combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch robot.

In Changan’s model lineup, the new CS35 Max will be positioned above the Uni-S, although they may be close in price, as Oshan’s cars have previously been characterized by their relatively affordable price.
The project to revive the Volga brand, which involved launching production in Nizhny Novgorod, has not materialized. There are no plans to launch the plant in 2025. However, last year, JSC Passenger Car Production drew up documents for factory testing of prototypes, which confirms the theoretical possibility of new Volga-branded models in the future. Changan has not officially commented on a possible partnership with the Russian plant.
