BMW Art Cars by Warhol and Lichtenstein shown in Switzerland

BMW celebrated 50 years of its presence in Switzerland with a gala event at its headquarters in Dilsdorf. The evening culminated with an exhibition of iconic BMW Art Cars -art cars created by the world’s leading artists.
From 4,000 cars a year to market leadership
The CEO of BMW Switzerland, Sergio Solero, spoke in his welcome speech about the evolution of the brand in the country, from the first deliveries of less than 4,000 cars in 1975 to more than 25,000 sales annually today. In 2025, BMW ranked first among all automakers in terms of first-quarter sales in Switzerland.

Solero also remembered Karl Hübner, whose company MOTAG first brought BMW cars to the country in 1953, and thanked the team of 424 employees, dealers and more than 30 local suppliers for their contribution to the brand’s success.
Art Cars exhibition: five decades of art on wheels
One of the centerpieces of the evening was a display of six legendary BMW Art Cars. Sven Grützmacher, Director of Corporate Communications at BMW Switzerland, gave a tour of the collection. Cars painted by Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jenny Holzer and other artists were on display.

Guests were also introduced to the concept BMW Vision Dee with a unique E-Ink coating in the colors of the Swiss flag.
Art, Design & Racing
The panel discussion featured motorsport legend Jochen Nerpasch, founder of the Art Car program, 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Max Heidegger and Classic Driver CEO JP Ratgen. Participants discussed how art, engineering and the automotive spirit come together in the BMW philosophy.

Looking to the Future
Since 2000, BMW Switzerland has passed the 1 billion francs turnover milestone and added the MINI brand in 2001. In 2024, the company once again became the leader of the premium segment in the country, and in 2025, it topped the overall ranking of automakers.

The celebration in Dilsdorf was not only a retrospective of achievements, but also a foreshadowing of a new era – including the upcoming BMW Neue Klasse, which the company will unveil in the coming years.
