YouTube has added a button to hide final screens in videos

Many YouTube users have been annoyed by final screens that cover the last few seconds of a video — be it recommendations or channel links. The platform is now introducing a «Hide» button that allows these elements to be removed during the viewing experience.
The button appears in the top right corner as soon as the final screen pops up. One tap — and all overlays disappear, allowing you to finish watching the video without interference. If desired, they can be brought back by pressing «Show». However, the setting only works for the current video — you’ll have to remove the screens again each time.
YouTube took this step after numerous user complaints. Tests showed that the ability to hide screens had almost no impact on engagement, with only 1.5% fewer clicks from those elements.
In addition, YouTube is removing the little-used subscribe feature when hovering over a channel’s watermark on a PC. It was generating less than 0.05% of all subscriptions, and was cluttering up the interface.
Content creators can still use the final screens, and viewers — interact with them if they want to. But now they won’t have to be endured on a mandatory basis. The new feature has already started rolling out globally.
