Telegram is testing the function of broadcasting images and videos to the TV set

The beta version of Telegram for Android 11.8 now supports Google Cast (formerly known as Chromecast), which allows transferring media content from a smartphone to a TV.

What’s new?

Now users can:

  • Display photos and videos from chats directly to the TV.
  • Broadcast media content from channels to the big screen.
  • Control playback directly from Telegram.

The feature is only available in the messenger’s media player, and its integration into other sections of the app is not yet complete.

When to expect the update?

The feature is in the testing phase, and it’s not yet known when it will appear in the stable version for Android and iOS. However, its addition to the beta version suggests that a full release could be in the next few updates.
