Max has strengthened its protection against phone scammers with Kaspersky

National messenger Max has implemented Kaspersky Lab’s Kaspersky Who Calls technology to automatically verify phone numbers. The solution improves user protection against fraudulent calls.

Phone Fraud in Numbers

According to Kaspersky Who Calls, in the first half of 2025 57% of users in Russia experienced “classic” calls from unknown numbers that raised suspicion of fraud. That’s what prompted the companies to integrate the technology into the MAX messenger.

How Kaspersky Who Calls works

The tool provides users with information about a number’s reputation, organization category and name when making calls and messenger messages.

The tool uses multiple machine learning models and a suite of analytics to identify potential threats. This allows you to block suspicious calls and reduce the risk of fraud.

Collaborative Security

The partnership also analyzes numbers registered with MAX. This helps thwart attempts to use messenger to defraud users.

It was previously reported that Sber provided the MAX team with its own technology and expertise in identifying suspicious transactions and calls.
