New Android device control features

Gemini Utilities is designed to simplify many tasks on Android. With the new extension, you can manage alarms and timers, open apps, control media playback, and customize device settings like volume and screen brightness. What’s more, Gemini is now capable of taking photos and screenshots on command.

Simultaneous execution of multiple actions

One of the key features of Gemini Utilities is the ability to perform multiple actions at once on a single command. For example, you can ask Gemini to increase media volume, lower notification volume, and activate power saving mode with a single request. This greatly speeds up tasks and saves time.

Integration with the Pixel Screenshots app

The update also adds integration with the Pixel Screenshots app. You can now ask Gemini to find specific screenshots or browse collections. This feature, first announced as part of October’s Pixel Drop, adds another layer of convenience. Simply press and hold the power button, then ask Gemini to find, for example, “the brand of sneakers I saved in Screenshots,” and Gemini will open the screenshot in question.

Control over alarms and timers

For users who value control over alarms and timers, the Gemini Utilities extension provides extensive control over the Clock application. You can set, modify, and delete alarms and timers, as well as pause or turn them off using voice commands.

All alarms and timers can be set, modified, and deleted.

Gradual rollout and English language support

It’s important to note that the Gemini Utilities Extension will be rolled out gradually, and at launch supports English-only commands. However, once fully rolled out, the extension promises to significantly improve interaction with Android devices.

Gemini Utilities Extension opens up new perspectives for controlling devices with voice commands, which is especially useful when your hands are full or you need to perform multiple tasks at once. Looking forward, Gemini’s further development and achieving functional parity with Google Assistant is definitely something to keep an eye on.
