iPhone owners unimpressed with Apple Intelligence: newest features have yet to live up to expectations

A recent survey found that iPhone owners are showing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) in smartphones, but so far feel that Apple’s Intelligence features add little value to their devices. The situation looks even worse for Samsung, as Galaxy users are even less likely to find value in AI innovations.
AI is important to smartphone users
According to research from platform SellCell, AI plays a significant role when choosing a new smartphone. Nearly half (47.6%) of iPhone owners cited AI as a “very important” or “fairly important” factor in purchasing the device. In comparison, only 23.7% of Samsung users consider AI important when choosing a smartphone.

The latest features don’t impress
Despite the interest in AI, Apple Intelligence’s current features fall short of expectations. Among iPhone owners, 73% of Apple Intelligence users said the new features are “not very useful” or “add little value.” Samsung fared even worse, with 87% of Galaxy owners expressing disappointment with their smartphone’s AI features.

The survey also revealed Apple’s most popular AI features before the release of iOS 18.2:
- Text creation tools – 72%
- Notification summaries – 54%
- Priority messages – 44.5%
- Cleanup in Photos – 29.1%
- Smart Reply in Mail and Messages – 20.9%
Genmoji and ChatGPT: a new chance for Apple
The survey was conducted before the release of iOS 18.2, which added integration with Genmoji and ChatGPT. These features could change user attitudes.
- Genmoji allows you to create new emoji using Apple Intelligence. Users can describe the emoji they want and the system will generate it instantly.
- The ChatGPT integration has become an additional feature for Siri. You can now start a request with the phrase “Ask ChatGPT” and Siri will automatically send the request to ChatGPT for a response.
.
The question remains whether these innovations will sway user opinion and increase the value of AI in Apple’s smartphones.
