An AI tool for automatic subtitle creation has appeared in Russia

Russian video editor Movavi Video has added an autosubtitle feature that recognizes Russian speech in videos with high accuracy and works faster than foreign solutions. Now users can easily create subtitles using artificial intelligence – the text is generated literally “in one click”. Once created, subtitles can be styled by changing font, color and position.

Previously, audio-to-text conversion was only available in paid foreign apps, which became unavailable in Russia due to the withdrawal of international payment systems. Users had to manually enter text and adjust timings to synchronize the strings with the video, which was time-consuming.

“We use a neural model developed specifically for the Russian language, which is a great achievement. Foreign video editors often had difficulties recognizing Russian-speaking speech,” says Dmitry Gripak, product manager at Movavi Video. According to him, tests on Windows and macOS have shown that Movavi Video’s autosubtitles work more accurately and faster than their foreign counterparts. The new feature is especially useful for bloggers who shoot short vertical videos for social networks: according to the company, 43% of users edit videos less than 1 minute long.

Automatic subtitles help bloggers expand their reach and attract new audiences. According to Yandex Advertising research, 79% of Russians find subtitles convenient to watch, while 41% prefer to watch videos without sound. Subtitled videos are better received and more likely to be watched to the end.

The Movavi Video update also includes new cinematic effects and overlay modes for video and photos. Working with the effects collection is now faster: just hover over an effect and it’s immediately displayed in preview mode. Added tools for editing: “Blade” for quick cutting and “Bind” for precise gluing. The program is also up to 30 percent faster with Fast Track HD and support for Apple M-series processors.

The new version of Movavi Video is now available for all users, and for those who use the program on a subscription basis, simply upgrade.
