There are new AI features in Google Photos
Google has unveiled a major update to its Google Photos service, adding a host of artificial intelligence-based features. Among the new features — the ability to edit objects and people in photos, an Ask button for AI queries, templates for creating new images, and advanced search with natural language support.

Google previously introduced text-based editing on the Pixel 10 series smartphones in August. The feature is now available to iOS users in the US. Using voice or text, you can describe your desired changes, and the AI will make the adjustments. A revamped photo editor with a simplified interface is also coming to iOS.

One of the major new features is a personalized editing tool that recognizes people in photos using the face grouping feature in Google Photos. In the «Help me edit» section, users can enter instructions that apply to specific people in a photo. For example, the command «Take the glasses off Reilly, open my eyes, make Engel smile and open her eyes» will automatically create the appropriate edits for each person.
Google has also added its AI model called Nano Banana to Photos. It lets you transform photos into new styles, such as a Renaissance portrait or comic book.

Another new feature — AI-based templates that give you the ability to quickly convert a photo into a given format. Thanks to Nano Banana, styles like retro portraits and action figures have become popular. The feature will appear on Android in the Create section as early as next week in the U.S. and India — those are the countries where the technology is most commonly used.
In addition, there will be a new Ask button in the app’s interface. It will be the starting point for various AI queries, allowing users to learn more about a photo, find similar photos, or edit an image with text prompts. The app will also offer hints for possible actions. The Ask button will start appearing to users in the US on iOS and Android in the near future.

Google is also expanding the availability of its AI photo search, first introduced last year. It will now work in more than 100 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and South Africa. Search now supports over 17 languages, including Arabic, Bengali, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.
