WWDC 2025: everything that can be shown at the presentation

WWDC 2025: everything that can be shown at the presentation

The Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC — one of Apple’s most important and anticipated annual events where software updates take center stage. Apple is expected to unveil changes to iOS and macOS in 2025 that will dramatically improve interactions with iPhones, iPads and Macs. But that’s not all the announcements, as the company will also discuss improvements to all its interfaces running on different categories of devices. In addition to software, we might witness some hardware announcements as well.

WWDC 2025: When will the presentation take place?”

WWDC is usually held annually in the first half of June, though dates can vary. Apple likes to kick off the event with a keynote on Monday, and this year it will continue that tradition.

Apple likes to start the event with a keynote on Monday, and this year it will continue that tradition.

Apple has already confirmed that WWDC 2025 will open with a keynote on June 9, with various sessions and developer meetups running through June 13.

How and where can I watch WWDC 2025?”

WWDC 2025

WWDC 2025 will be held online and will be free to all. Live streaming of the keynote, as well as various follow-up sessions, can be found on a dedicated page on Apple’s website and on Apple’s official YouTube channel.

A text broadcast and highlights of the presentation will also be available on our website.

Since WWDC is Apple’s biggest non-hardware event of the year, we can expect a few announcements regarding the future of software.

iOS 19

Since the iPhone generates the most revenue for Apple, iOS — is the most important product to be discussed at the annual conference. The year 2025 — is the year iOS 19 will be released. Although a stable release will come along with the iPhone 17 later this year, Apple will preview the new version of the software.

While nothing concrete is known about the update, there are plenty of rumors about sweeping changes to the iPhone’s software. For example, Mark Gurman claims that iOS 19 will be “one of the most dramatic software updates” in iPhone history. The update is expected to bring a significant visual overhaul for the first time since the release of iOS 7 in 2013.

WWDC 2025

In the upcoming update, Apple will make fundamental changes to the look and feel of iOS. iOS 19 will borrow heavily from Apple Vision Pro’s semi-transparent visual elements and systematically redesign many features, including the look and feel of icons, menus, touch controls and buttons, menus, and even system apps. Apple’s goal is — to achieve visual consistency across platforms and simplify device interactions.

Apple’s goal is to create a visually consistent experience across platforms and simplify device interactions.

Apple is also expected to improve system animations, with an emphasis on transparency. And while the list of new features in iOS 19 is extremely long, it’s expected to add some of the features that were announced last year for iOS 18. Most notably, we’re talking about Apple’s promised Intellgence feature set, which has yet to arrive.

Apple Intelligence

Since the iPhone 16 was released in September, Apple has gradually released several promised Apple Intelligence features at short intervals in iOS 18 updates. With the release of the latest iOS 18.4, eligible devices will get features like prioritized notifications, improvements to Image Playground, and Apple Intelligence availability on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. These features will add to existing features such as notification summaries, writing tools, Genmoji, photo cleanup, and smart replies and summaries in the Messages and Mail apps. Apple is also expected to expand AI features to other languages and regions.

Some of the Apple Intelligence features shown earlier remain unrealized. But that should change this year. The most important of these — a more personalized Siri that will know your personal information as well as the actions you perform on your Apple devices.

WWDC 2025

At WWDC 2025 last year, Apple showed us a smarter version of Siri. It was subsequently updated to perceive and respond to queries using ChatGPT, but a wider update was promised for 2025. However, recent reports suggest that a Siri update could be part of iOS 19, but not at launch.

Besides more natural conversations and better context, Apple also talked about Siri’s ability to view what’s on your screen for additional context when answering your queries. These features may come at a later date.

iPadOS 19

WWDC 2025

Alongside iOS 19, Apple will also unveil a version of the operating system specifically designed for the iPad’s larger screens. Like the mobile version, iPadOS 19 is expected to feature radical interface changes with smoother elements.

The exact changes in iPadOS 19 are not yet specified, but we expect menu simplification to be the same as in iOS 19. In addition, iPadOS will allow for a desktop-like interface via Stage Manager or by connecting an external display, we may see simplified app windows inspired by visionOS, and improved support for alternating between multiple open windows like macOS had last year.

macOS 16

Like iOS 19, macOS will also be part of Apple’s plan to visually overhaul its interfaces to improve interaction with Mac devices. Gurman suggests that this will be the biggest update since Big Sur in 2020. The goal of these updates — to unify all of Apple’s operating systems so they look and function the same.

All of these updates will be part of Apple’s plan to make all of its operating systems look and function the same.

WWDC 2025

Although the name of macOS 16 won’t be officially revealed until WWDC 2025 — or via leaks in the weeks before the event, — trademarks filed by Apple may give us a little more information. Apple typically names macOS updates after California landmarks, and two trademarks that remain unclaimed for now — are Skyline and Rincon. Perhaps Apple will use one of those names for the next version of macOS.

As with iOS 19, Apple is expected to use translucent and fluid design elements in the macOS update. We expect to see more Apple Intelligence features for desktops, though given Apple’s general slowness with AI adoption, they may not show up this year (even if they suddenly do).

And finally, while there’s no indication that Apple is bringing in more game studios, there’s hope to see more games for the ecosystem.

watchOS 12

In contrast to upcoming versions of iOS and macOS, there have been fewer rumors heralding visual updates to the Apple Watch interface. Last year, Apple introduced changes in the form of a real-time activity tracker and Smart Stack for widgets that can be accessed directly from the homescreen by turning the crown button.

At the end of the year, Apple introduced a real-time activity tracker and Smart Stack for widgets that can be accessed directly from the homescreen by turning the crown button.

In watchOS 12, the biggest expectation is not for visuals, but for features. Apple is probably going to make AI-based health information available through supported Apple Watch models. We can expect this data to be identical to the daily fitness and energy metrics provided by competitors like the Galaxy Watch 7 and Pixel Watch 3. We can also expect more personalized recommendations on how to maintain health or function during workouts.

WWDC 2025

Bearing in mind the limited processing power of the SiP driving the Apple Watch, we can expect most of the processing to take place on the iPhone, while the watch will act as a simple interface to collect data and display summaries or snapshots. It’s not yet clear if the Apple Watch will get an updated version of Siri.

In addition, the company is rumored to be working on bringing high blood pressure alerts to the Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3. Since these features require specialized hardware, don’t expect them to appear in already released watches. Future generations of the Apple Watch could be equipped with more powerful hardware and a camera to enable features like visual intelligence, but the likelihood of that happening this year is slim.”

visionOS 3

visionOS — is Apple’s software for its premium Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Since visionOS itself is the basis for Apple’s upcoming ambitious redesign, we may not see many visual changes.

WWDC 2025

While the original headset software was primarily focused on entertainment and immersion, visionOS 2 brings a host of improvements, expanding the ways Apple’s premium headset can be used with other Apple products, such as Macs, and as a replacement for large physical displays, as well as expanding apps for controlling the headset with eye movements.

There aren’t many rumors about what we can expect from the next iteration of the premium headset software, but Apple could add better support for VR gaming. The company is in talks with Sony to support PlayStation VR controllers on the Vision Pro, which means we could see some AAA games for the iPad, but with VR support.

tvOS 19

In the previous update, tvOS received updates in the form of improved dialog, subtitles, spatial audio support and improved access to connected devices listed in the Home app.

WWDC 2025

Despite the lack of rumors and leaks pointing to possible new features, Apple is expected to introduce some artificial intelligence features for better content discovery. Meanwhile, the more personalized data from the Apple Watch we mentioned above could also appear on the TV as part of Apple’s efforts to integrate fitness features into it. In addition, we’re hoping for some improvements to the Home control.

HomePod with Display

Apple’s lineup of smart speakers hasn’t been updated in over two years, suggesting that new models could arrive as early as this year. For starters, Apple is rumored to be working on a new HomePod Mini with a much more advanced Wi-Fi 6E protocol. However, it may not arrive until late 2025 at the earliest.

In the meantime, several rumors point to another update to the HomePod family — the arrival of a display that will attach to the smart speaker. Smart speakers with displays have already been considered by many brands. Apple is expected to do things differently — attach the display with a robotic arm that will move it around so that it is facing you at all times.

And Apple is expected to do the same thing — attach the display with a robotic arm that will move it around so that it is facing you at all times.

WWDC 2025

Although the display is said to be identical to the iPad, the HomePod will run a separate interface called “homeOS.” It’s also expected to be driven by the A18 chipset, which will enable Apple Intelligence features.

Besides the sophisticated hardware, the company may release a simpler model with a display attached to the base of the HomePod speaker. Judging by the abundance of rumors, Apple could unveil an updated smart speaker at WWDC 2025.

New Hardware

Apple often announces new hardware during WWDC 2025. Before we get into the potential new products, let’s break down what products Apple is unlikely to unveil at WWDC.

Since unveiling the iPhone 16 last September, Apple has released a huge number of new products. That list includes the following:

  • iPad Mini with A17 Pro processor
  • 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro with M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max chips
  • Updated Mac Mini M4
  • iMac M4
  • iPad Air M3
  • Mac Studio with M4 Max/M3 Ultra
  • 13″ and 15″ M4 MacBook Air
  • new basic iPad
  • iPhone 16e

This means you shouldn’t expect Apple to release new products in these categories. While the list is already short, Apple could add a few more products this year, starting with the second-generation AirTag.

An AirTag 2 with improved range of up to 90 meters and enhanced privacy features is expected to arrive soon and could be unveiled at WWDC 2025. Rumor has it that it will feature an improved Ultra Wideband chip to promote more accurate tracking.

Also, Apple is expected to unveil the M5 iPad Pro, a new 4K Apple TV and a second-generation Studio Display, though we’re guessing the company will launch these after the iPhone 17 unveiling in September.
