Amazfit unveils T-Rex Ultra 2 with record-breaking battery life and bright AMOLED display
After a wave of leaks, Amazfit has officially introduced the T-Rex Ultra 2 – the latest flagship in its rugged smartwatch lineup designed for outdoor enthusiasts. The headline upgrade is a massive boost to battery life: the new model packs a high-density 870mAh battery, up 74% from the 500mAh cell in its predecessor. Despite this jump, the weight barely budged, tipping the scales at 89.2 grams compared to 89 grams in the original T-Rex Ultra. This was achieved by replacing the 316L stainless steel used last year with Grade 5 titanium on the back cover, bezel, and physical buttons.

The display also received a significant overhaul. The watch now sports a 1.5-inch AMOLED screen protected by sapphire glass, boasting a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. That’s a threefold increase over the 1000 nits max of the previous generation, dramatically improving visibility in direct sunlight, mountainous terrain, and other challenging environments. The internal storage has been ramped up from 4GB to 64GB, enabling built-in offline topographic maps that distinguish between paved and dirt trails. Whereas users previously had to manually upload OSM maps, the T-Rex Ultra 2 offers integrated step-by-step navigation along with support for six satellite systems simultaneously.

Functionality has been expanded with a built-in dual-mode LED flashlight delivering 200 or 300 lumens and an SOS mode. This dedicated hardware replaces the previous screen-based illumination. For the European market, contactless payments via NFC have been added. The watch retains certifications for extreme conditions, operating down to -30 °C and withstanding water pressure up to 10 ATM-making it ready for freediving and high-speed water sports.
Amazfit hasn’t officially announced pricing yet, but the T-Rex Ultra 2 recently appeared at a European retailer for €512.90, roughly $605 USD.
