Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 17 Ultra flagship and a special Leica Edition version
Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China. Along with the standard version, the company also revealed a special Leica Edition, which features a unique design and additional features for mobile photography enthusiasts.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch M10 flat OLED LTPO display with a resolution of 2608 × 1200 pixels and a density of 420 ppi, which is almost 2K. The screen supports adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, while peak brightness reaches 3,500 nits. Xiaomi Ceramic Glass 2.0 is used for protection. DC-dimming, PWM dimming at 1920Hz and triple TÜV Rheinland certification to reduce eye strain are also claimed.



The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with two ultra-powerful Oryon cores clocked up to 4.6GHz, six performance cores at 3.62GHz and Adreno 840 graphics with 18MB cache. For efficient cooling, Xiaomi has utilized a dual ring liquid cooling system that improves heat dissipation from the processor and camera by about 50%.

The smartphone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0. One of the key features of the system was its deep integration with other devices’ ecosystems. The smartphone is capable of displaying and managing Apple devices including iPhone, iPad and Mac, and supports two-way mirroring between Xiaomi devices and iPhones.

The main focus of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is on the cameras. The main module gets a 1-inch, 50MP Light Fusion 1050L sensor co-developed with Leica. It offers native dynamic range of up to 14 EV and utilizes LOFIC technology for improved shooting in night and contrast scenes. The telephoto camera features a 200-megapixel Leica lens with continuous optical zoom between 75-100mm and digital zoom up to 400mm. The system supports macro photography from a distance of 30 cm. The 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera has a 115-degree field of view and supports macro photography from 5cm. The front camera is also 50MP and can record 4K video at 60fps.

A 6,800 mAh battery is responsible for battery life — the largest in Xiaomi’s Ultra lineup. It supports 90W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, as well as reverse wired and wireless charging. The smartphone is compatible with the universal PPS protocol.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra weighs 223.4 grams with a body thickness of 8.29mm, making it the brand’s thinnest Ultra smartphone. It features an ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and satellite support. The case is IP66, IP68, and IP69 rated.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, designed for classic photography fans, deserves a special mention. It gets the signature Leica red dot on the body, a two-tone Leica M-series design, and a metal frame with notches reminiscent of lens rings. A mechanical Master Zoom Ring is integrated into the body to control shooting parameters such as focal length, white balance and exposure.

Programmatically, the Leica Edition offers an exclusive Leica Moment mode with Leica M9-style color reproduction, black and white simulations of M3 and MONOPAN 50 film, and a classic 3:2 aspect ratio. Additionally, the smartphone is equipped with a separate encryption chip and supports dual BeiDou and TianTong satellite communications. This version comes in a special gift set with Leica-inspired accessories.



Prices in China for the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra start at 6,999 yuan for the 12GB + 512GB version. The 16GB + 512GB modification costs 7,499 yuan, and the 1TB storage variant — 8,499 yuan. The Leica Edition is priced at 7,999 yuan for the 16 GB + 512 GB version and 8,999 yuan for the 1 TB storage configuration. Pre-orders are now open, with public sales in China scheduled to start on December 27, 2025.
