NotebookLM got data export and smart tables

Google has added note exporting and a new Data Tables feature to NotebookLM that automatically converts unstructured information into tables; some of the features are only available on paid plans for now.

Google continues to aggressively develop NotebookLM, an AI notebook for working with sources and notes. In recent months, the service has gained chat history, support for slide decks and infographics, and now the team has unveiled two more features that should make collaboration and data analytics easier.

Export Notes and Reports

NotebookLM users can now export notes and reports created in the service for further editing outside of the app. The feature is available via a three-dot button in Content Studio. Depending on the type of content, the materials can be uploaded to Google Docs or Google Sheets.

Slide deck exports are still limited. NotebookLM can generate full-fledged presentations, but you can’t save them to Google Slides or download them as PPTs yet.

The new export feature, however, makes it easier to collaborate. Users can share reports and notes created in NotebookLM with colleagues and partners without requiring them to use the service itself.

Data Tables for working with unstructured information

The second major update is the Data Tables feature. It automatically takes scattered and unstructured information from notebooks and converts it into neat tables with clear fields and relevant facts.

This feature is aimed at users who use NotebookLM as a repository for important data. Data Tables avoid manual sorting and structuring of information, making it easy to reuse and analyze. An added benefit is the ability to export the resulting tables to Google Sheets.

Data Tables is currently available to all users with Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions. For free NotebookLM users, the feature will be available in the coming weeks.

NotebookLM and possible migration to Gemini 3

The updates presented are likely to be the last for NotebookLM this year. However, the current pace of development of the service indicates that it may receive new features and expanded functionality in 2026.

One of the most anticipated changes is considered to be the move to the Gemini 3 model. Although Google unveiled the new version of Gemini in mid-November and immediately integrated it into AI Mode and search, NotebookLM is still based on Gemini 2.5. Updating the language model could be one of the key steps in the service’s development next year.
