Pinterest announced new features using artificial intelligence
On Monday, Pinterest unveiled updates to its boards based on artificial intelligence technology that will make them more personalized for users. Among the new features — “Created for You” collage and personalized “Boards Created for You” boards.
“Created for You” collages allow users to combine clothing and accessories from saved pins to create new looks that match their style. By clicking on any item in the collage, users can view AI recommendations for additional pins, making it easier to customize their closet and accessorize.
In addition, Pinterest is testing a feature called “Boards Created Just for You” – personalized boards that are generated based on artificial intelligence recommendations and editorial comments. These boards include fashion trends, outfit ideas and shopping items, and will appear in news feeds and in users’ inboxes.

The AI features are currently being experimented with in the U.S. and Canada, with rollout planned in the next few months.
The goal of these innovations — to transform Pinterest boards from a simple tool for organizing content to a more personalized platform for inspiration, shopping and image creation. The initiative is in line with Pinterest’s strategic goal — to position itself as an “AI-enabled shopping assistant,” as the company’s CEO said during its second-quarter earnings conference call. The platform already uses AI for recommendations and visual searches.
Despite the expansion of AI features, Pinterest has also made efforts to limit AI-generated content. In April, the company announced the tagging of images created or modified with AI, and introduced controls that allow users to limit the number of such pins in their feed.
The company has also been working to limit the number of such pins in its feed.
In addition, new tabs sorting pins by category will roll out globally in the coming months, available when browsing boards on users’ profiles.
