GM and Apple’s new partners

“Car Key support for select General Motors vehicles may be coming to the Apple Wallet app soon,” according to the MacRumors publication. Code changes have also been noted for Rivian, Smart, and Voyah, signaling Apple’s expanded partnership with automakers.

The rollout of the feature requires additional work on the part of the brands themselves, however, so the exact timeline for the launch remains unknown. According to the source, in addition to GM, the list of new partners includes Acura, Chery, Hongqi, Lucid, Porsche, Tata, and WEY.

How Car Key Works

The Car Key feature lets you unlock and start your car using your iPhone or Apple Watch, and share digital keys with others via iMessage.

For GM, support will cover Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC – specific models have not yet been named, but their appearance in Apple’s code hints at an imminent inclusion.
