Sony’s flagship headphones work better with Samsung smartphones

Sony, known for its popular wireless noise-canceling headphones, has announced expanded capabilities for certain models when connected to Samsung’s Bluetooth LE Audio-enabled smartphones.

The flagship WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 models have gained support for Audio Sharing via Fast Pair. Now two sets of headphones can be connected simultaneously to a Galaxy smartphone and listen to the same audio stream. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro also support this feature — so you can combine devices from different brands.

The ability to create a private audio stream via QR code or Google Fast Pair has also been added. With the firmware update, both devices have also gained support for head-tracking when connected via Bluetooth LE Audio. To activate it, you’ll need to reconnect the headphones to your Galaxy devices.

With the Google Find Hub app on Samsung smartphones and tablets, you can separately find the left and right earbuds of the WF-1000XM5 if they get lost. In addition, both models now feature Google’s Gemini Live voice assistant, with which you can have an ongoing dialog, interrupt and change the topic of the conversation.
