Google announced a Home Speaker smart speaker with Gemini neural networking

For the first time since 2020, Google has unveiled an updated version of its smart speakers, introducing a model called the Home Speaker. This compact device, which stands out for its colorful design, is powered by the Gemini neural network and is designed to control your smart home system.

The Home Speaker is the first smart speaker that Google has introduced since 2020.

Google didn’t reveal the exact dimensions of the device at the presentation, but based on the promotional materials, we can assume it’s slightly larger than the Yandex Station Mini 3 Pro. The speaker’s body is lined with perforated fabric, and there’s an LED ring at the bottom that displays the current status and commands being executed.

The manufacturer claims omnidirectional sound (speaker power is not specified) and the ability to pair two speakers in stereo. With support for Matter and Thread protocols, the speaker can function as a hub for controlling smart home devices.

The presentation emphasized smart features. Instead of Google Assistant, the speaker uses the Gemini for Home neural network, which enables conversations on a variety of topics and multi-step commands.

Other benefits of the Home Speaker include a physical button to mute microphones, and the ability to wirelessly connect two speakers to the Google TV Streamer to create a surround sound experience.

The Home Speaker will start selling in black, beige, green, and red in spring 2026. The speaker will cost $99 (8,070 rubles) in the U.S., and the price of a Google Gemini subscription to use the expanded list of neural network features starts at $10 (815 rubles) per month.
