Honor MagicPad 3 Pro will be the first tablet with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Honor has confirmed that its next flagship MagicPad 3 Pro tablet will feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The company announced this after the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit in Maui, Hawaii. The MagicPad 3 Pro is scheduled to launch in China in October to coincide with the release of the Magic 8 series flagships. MagicPad 3 Pro is positioned as a more feature-rich and powerful alternative to the MagicPad 3 model introduced in July. The previous version used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and received high marks for performance, but showed limitations under prolonged workloads. Qualcomm says the fifth-generation platform delivers a 20 percent increase in CPU performance, a 23 percent increase in graphics performance, and a 37 percent increase in Hexagon neural processor performance over the previous generation. This will improve multitasking, localized AI tasks and gaming experience. The platform will also improve multitasking, localized AI tasks and gaming experience. The teaser also confirmed the MagicPad 3 Pro’s design, which is almost identical to the standard model. The tablet features a square camera unit with dual lenses and flash, the button layout and Honor logo in the center of the back panel remain, as does the flat aluminum body. MagicPad 3 already has a large 13.3-inch display with a 3.2K (3200 x 2136 pixels) LCD panel and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. The Pro version will reportedly retain those features. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor supports native frame rate interpolation and graphics scaling in games, features that OnePlus has already confirmed for use. Given the high resolution and refresh rate of the MagicPad 3 Pro’s display, it will be interesting to see to what extent Honor will be able to leverage the chip’s artificial intelligence capabilities to improve the gaming experience. The MagicPad 3 Pro’s price hasn’t been announced yet, but given the more powerful hardware, it’s expected to cost more than the base MagicPad 3 model (about $599) and could be around $800. After the release in China, the device will be available in other markets in the coming months. If Honor realizes the announced specs, the MagicPad 3 Pro could be a serious competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and the latest iPad Pro in terms of processing power.
