The head of ROAD closed his own car assembly plant in Bryansk

BN-Motors Holding has completed the project to produce BNM light trucks at its site in Bryansk. Alexey Podshchekoldin, the owner of the company and president of the Russian Automobile Dealers Association (ROAD), said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper.
Causes of production stoppage
Podshchekoldin said the decision is related to the current market situation: “the market is dead now.”BNM production started in March 2025 and was carried out from car kits supplied from China. There were two cars in the model lineup:
- BNM Model 1 with a payload of 1 ton – a copy of FAW T80;
- BNM T7 with a payload capacity of 1.5 tons – rebranded BAW T7;
The plant has produced 110 trucks since its inception, a significant portion of which have yet to be sold. The original business plan envisioned the production of 3-5 thousand vehicles annually.

Russian LCV sales fall
As of January-July 2025, 46,900 new light commercial vehicles were sold in Russia. This is 18% less than in the same period of 2024. Reduced demand was one of the key reasons for the closure of production.
Resonance Initiatives
Alexei Podshchekoldin has previously attracted public attention with his proposal to ban the operation of older cars in Russia. His decision to shut down the car assembly project may reflect the broader problems of the LCV segment in the domestic market.
