Insider: Honor will release a smartphone with two 200-megapixel cameras

According to an insider Fixed Focus Digital posted on Gizmochina, Honor is planning to unveil the world’s first smartphone equipped with two cameras with a resolution of 200 megapixels each.
This dual 200-megapixel system is expected to consist of a main camera and a periscopic module. While some flagship models like the Honor Magic7 RSR Porsche Edition, Vivo X200 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra already have a 200-megapixel periscopic camera with a telephoto lens, offering significant zoom and good quality low-light shots.
Honor has long emphasized periscopic zoom, using proprietary algorithms including Super Zoom technology to achieve high definition when shooting distant subjects.

Recently, Honor’s chief imaging engineer Luo Wei denied rumors of a 1-inch sensor or a dual-lens configuration on each sensor. He said Honor is committed to avoiding unnecessary technical complexities by focusing on practical innovation.
Lo Wei also outlined the tenets of Honor’s imaging hardware strategy: investing in functions that cannot be replicated by AI, functions that evolve with AI, and those where AI significantly improves performance.
He confidently stated that in three years, other manufacturers will not be able to reach Honor’s level in this area.
