Xiaomi has removed power restrictions from the SU7 Ultra after complaints from owners

Xiaomi has gone after SU7 Ultra electric car owners and dropped software restrictions that underestimate the power and top speed of the flagship model. Previously, car owners massively expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that for the 1,548 horsepower claimed in the advertising, you actually have to “grow up”.

Since the SU7 Ultra was launched, it’s been known that the electric car comes with a power restriction – only 900 hp is active by default, and access to the full output is only available after passing certain conditions: driving more than 300 kilometers, a qualifying lap on the track, and training. In addition, a firmware update to version 1.7.0 added an additional delay in Launch Control activation – the electric car didn’t immediately respond to acceleration to prevent abrupt starts.

Xiaomi attributed such measures to safety concerns: driving a car with more than 1,500 hp without proper training is a risk not only for the driver, but also for others. But buyers who paid more than 6 million rubles (529,900 yuan) for the SU7 Ultra felt they were being sold a “conditionally powerful” car rather than a full-fledged car – and demanded full unlocking.

As reported CarNewsChina, the company has reconsidered its stance after a barrage of criticism. The restrictions have been lifted, and going forward, Xiaomi has promised to build a more open dialog with car owners and provide advance notice of the conditions for accessing the advertised features.

At the same time, Xiaomi has promised to provide more open dialog with car owners and warn them of the conditions for accessing the advertised features.

The flagship SU7 Ultra differs from the standard SU7 not only in design, but also in technical stuffing. Powered by three electric motors with a total output of 1548 hp and torque of 1770 N-m, acceleration to 100 km/h takes less than 2 seconds and top speed reaches 350 km/h. It is one of the most powerful electric vehicles in the civilian segment today.
