MWC 2025: Lenovo unveiled ThinkBook Flip – a laptop with a flexible vertical screen

Lenovo continues to experiment with form factors, and at MWC 2025 the company showed off an unusual ThinkBook Flip model. This conceptual AI laptop is capable of transforming: it works as a 13.1-inch laptop, 12.9-inch tablet or 18.1-inch vertical screen

The ThinkBook Flip uses the same OLED screen as the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 (expected in June), but it folds behind the main panel instead of sliding out. This eliminates motorized mechanisms, reduces cost, and allows the entire screen to be used without blind spots

In normal mode, the Flip is 13-inch laptop, but part of the display remains on the back of the lid. It can be used for streaming content, presentations, or left off. The main feature, however, is the unfolding 18.1-inch screen with a resolution of 2,000 × 2,664, which makes it easy to work with long documents and Web pages

ThinkBook Flip received Smart ForcePad – a trackpad with three layers of LED backlighting that can be customized:

  • turn into a numeric keypad;
  • start quick commands, such as the selection tool;

Inside the device are Intel Ultra 7, 32GB LPDDR5X, PCIe SSD, Thunderbolt 4 and fingerprint scanner

Although the ThinkBook Flip remains a concept for now, Lenovo is already testing early prototypes, and borrowing components from the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 increases the chances of its release. If the lack of motors does make it cheaper, the device has a good chance of hitting the market
