Google launches Google Vids for simplified video creation in Workspace

Google has officially launched Google Vids, a new tool announced in April designed for AI-powered video creation. An important feature of Google Vids is its integration with Workspace, along with apps like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The tool helps users easily create professional-looking videos without having to learn complex video editing software.

The features of Google Vids and who it’s good for

The launch of Google Vids began with Workspace Labs and Gemini Alpha in June, and now the tool is being made available to Workspace’s wider audience. On its blog, Workspace emphasizes that the tool will be especially useful for customer support, learning and development, project management, and marketing departments. It helps:

• Support teams to create videos to supplement help center articles;
• Managers to create and share video announcements;
• Learning and development teams to create training videos for employees;
• Marketing departments to create video reports on campaigns;
• Project management teams to create video reviews of meetings and reports;

Automate video creation with Google Vids

Google Vids uses Gemini AI to analyze context and create video content from suggested data and ideas. The «Help me create» feature allows users to create an initial storyboard and then select video styles and edit scenes. The storyboard structures the key themes that the video will reveal, with the ability to add, remove or rearrange the order of the themes.

Users can choose from pre-made templates for various scenarios and add AI-generated voiceovers, as well as use their own voice to record snippets. Recording options include video overlay, screen recording, and audio.

The artificial intelligence in Google Vids provides features such as voiceover generation, background removal, image creation and «teleprompter» that will be available for free until December 31, 2025. Restrictions on their use may be imposed starting in 2026.

Distribution and requirements for using Google Vids

The tool is already available in Google Workspace for Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Essentials Plus and Education Plus subscribers, and will become available to most users in the next 15 days. Google recommends updating browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, or Edge for an optimal experience with Google Vids.
