Kirin 9100 chipset specifications leaked online

Huawei plans to launch the Mate 70 series of smartphones later this month, and the devices will feature the new Kirin 9100 processor. While Huawei hasn’t officially revealed details about the chip, recently leaked information from a Telegram user under the nickname @spektykles has shed some light on its specifications.

Notebookcheck discovered a Telegram post with a screenshot of the Device Info HW app, purportedly taken on a device from the Mate 70 series. The screenshot allegedly confirms the official specs of the Kirin 9100 processor. The chip, codenamed HiSilicon Baltimore, has an 8-core CPU architecture. It includes a single high-performance Cortex-X1 clocked at 2.67GHz for the most demanding tasks, three 2.32GHz Cortex-A78 cores for an optimal balance of power and efficiency, and four energy-efficient 2.02GHz Cortex-A55 cores.

Because of US sanctions against Huawei, the Kirin 9100 is limited to cores based on the older Arm v8 architecture, unlike the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chips, which use the latest Arm v9 cores. Despite this, Huawei is relying on its own Maleoon 910 GPU, which is reportedly carried over from the Kirin 9010. While the Maleoon 910 isn’t considered cutting-edge, its performance should be enough for everyday tasks and casual gameplay.

The Kirin 9100 chip is expected to be manufactured using SMIC’s N+3 technology, which corresponds to the 6nm process. While the processor was previously expected to be built using a 5nm process, 6nm N+3 promises improved power efficiency compared to the 7nm process used for the Kirin 9000S in the Mate 60.

The Kirin 9100 is likely to be comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 8+ Gen 1 in terms of performance. Specific performance tests have yet to be released, but previous leaks point to an approximate score of around 1.1 million in the AnTuTu test.
