Google has announced new features for Google Maps that now utilize Gemini AI, improving route planning and finding places to visit.

New features for Maps users:
- Trip Recommendations: users can request ideas for places to visit or activities in a specific area. Gemini also helps plan a trip for a group, summarizes user feedback, and answers questions such as whether a venue has outdoor seating or a quiet atmosphere.
- Add stops along the way: drivers can now add sights, scenic stops and restaurants along the route. Improved visualization makes it easier to see lanes, crosswalks, and signs on the road, and alerts you to the right lane to exit.
- Weather Interference Reports: drivers can leave information about weather conditions that will be visible to other users.
- Parking: Maps will report the nearest parking lots near your destination and provide walking directions from the car to the entrance using Street View or AR.
.
These features will be available globally in 30 major cities on Android and iOS.

Updated Immersive View
Now Immersive View covers 150 cities and shows you what places like stadiums, parks, and university campuses look like, including real-time weather and road conditions. For complex routes, the feature will suggest parking spots and flag difficult turns.
Waze
Waze will get new features, including traffic incident reports using voice commands and displaying school zones on a map.
