The iOS 18.1 update will be available for a wide range of iPhones, but Apple Intelligence only supports the following models:

  • All iPhone 16 and 16 Pro versions
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

After installing iOS 18.1, users will have to register in the queue to activate Apple Intelligence. To do so, you’ll need to go to Settings ⇾ Apple Intelligence and Siri and join the waitlist. The wait times depend on overall demand, and while the wait was relatively short in the beta period, the mass launch of iOS 18.1 could extend those wait times.

Apple Intelligence and Siri could be on the waiting list.

To shorten the wait, you can install the iOS 18.1 RC beta version now. The RC (Release Candidate) version is usually identical to the official release and contains minimal bugs. Installing iOS 18.1 RC through the beta program will allow you to sign up for the Apple Intelligence queue right away and get access before other users who won’t start signing up until next week.

Joining the beta program will also allow you to be the first to test features of future updates, including iOS 18.2 with new AI features like Genmoji.
