The series is a sequel to the Survivor Trilogy of video games Survivor Trilogy: 2013’s Tomb Raider, 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider and 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. These games were a reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise.

After the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara Craft goes on a solo journey, leaving her friends behind.
She must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from the Croft estate by a thief with unusual personal connections. A daring chase will lead her on an adventure around the world and into the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will have to face her true self and decide what kind of hero she wants to become.
She must find her way back to her home.
