A major Telegram update has been released

You can now send messages with animated effects, add captions above media files, quickly interact with phone numbers, search by hashtags, use collapsible quotes, and enjoy colorful calls on macOS. Messages with animated effects show a full-screen animation when read. You can choose an animation when sending a message using an emoji. Six options are available for free, while a premium subscription gives access to a large number of additional animations. You have to hold down the send button to select a reaction.
The caption for photos and videos in messages used to appear at the bottom, but now it can be moved to the top. The option appears when you hold down the post button and in the edit menu.
Fast actions with phone numbers are available when you tap a number in any message. Now you can send the highlighted number as a message, add it to your contacts, call it via Telegram or the phone’s basic app, copy the number, or view the subscriber’s profile in messenger with a single tap.
Another new feature is global hashtags, which allow you to search for posts across all public channels. Telegram has also introduced collapsible quotes. To use them, you need to first form the text as a quote and then press the minimize button. Your conversation partner can expand the text by clicking the arrow in the message.
The latest update also includes the porting of animations and dynamic backgrounds from Android and iOS to macOS. In addition, the Mac client now consumes less system resources. The current version of the app is already available on the developer’s official website.
