Michael Lesslie, who recently penned the screenplay for «The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes» (another big revival/reboot of a major franchise), will handle the screenplay.

The X-Men ’97 wowed critics and fans alike by being able to appeal to both adults who grew up on the original series and new fans just getting to know the X-Men, tackling serious themes with philosophical thoroughness and stunning animated action.
