Marvel Studios is wasting no time capitalizing on the huge success of its «X-Men» ’97 animated series, and is reportedly hiring a screenwriter for its movie reboot of the «X-Men» in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Michael Lesslie, who recently penned the screenplay for «The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes» (another big revival/reboot of a major franchise), will handle the screenplay.

The X-Men ’97 wowed critics and fans alike by being able to appeal to both adults who grew up on the original series and new fans just getting to know the X-Men, tackling serious themes with philosophical thoroughness and stunning animated action. And, of course, a healthy dose of what X fans love most — a bit of soapy but very believable character drama.

Meanwhile, July’s «Deadpool and Wolverine», the only Marvel Studios movie this year, is also a revival of «the X-Men». Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in a ’90s-style costume. Several mutants from the original «X-Men» movie franchise will also appear in the movie.
The movie will also feature a number of mutants from the original film franchise.

Marvel Studios is also in the process of filming a reboot of «Fantastic Four» that will add several major actors in unnamed roles, as well as some major characters like Galactus.

The screen rights to «X-Men» and «Fantastic Four» were previously held by 20th Century Fox, which is now, of course, 20th Century Studios, having been bought by Disney parent company Marvel Studios.
