Yandex will hold Young Con – a festival for students and young IT specialists
By ForGeeks Yandex invites students and young professionals who are interested in technology and want to work in IT to the free Young Con festival. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with Yandex teams and technologies, and aspiring developers, analysts or testers will be able to get a trial interview. The festival will take place on June 27 at Live Arena and can be attended in person or online.
Young Con is a geek festival inspired by science fiction and future technology. The main theme will be “Yandex Universe”, which unites technologies, their creators and users. Yandex HR director Dasha Zolotukhina, Search’s technical director Alexei Gusakov and head of ecom services Roman Maresov will speak at the opening of Young Con.
“Every year we open our doors to thousands of interns, many of whom end up staying on to work at Yandex. An internship with us is access to a whole universe of projects, because IT today is an opportunity to make various areas of life better. We do Young Con in the format of a colorful festival to demonstrate this diversity and help talented young professionals to decide and choose a job that really appeals to them,” says Dasha Zolotukhina, HR Director at Yandex.
Yandex’s services will be presented in the form of nine thematic “worlds” – stands where festival guests can take part in interactive entertainment, learn about the company’s technologies and meet the people who create them. Experts from Yandex will be guiding them through the “worlds”. They are ready to answer any questions of the participants. For example, they can explain how technology works, talk about life at Yandex, and share practical advice.
For online participation in the festival, you need to register on the Young Con website. For those who want to attend Young Con in person, they need to write a motivational letter or complete a test task – depending on the chosen direction. The best 400 participants in the technical areas will be able to take an express interview – successful completion of the interview will increase their chances of getting an internship at Yandex.
At the end of the festival, The Hatters and HLEB will perform. In addition to lectures, interviews and adventures in the “worlds” of Yandex, visitors will be able to attend the final of the “Battle of Universities. Y&&Y Cup” is a programming tournament among students. The team of the winning university, which will solve as many algorithmic problems as possible faster than its rivals, will receive 1 million rubles.
