Windows 11 launched in text mode

Microsoft’s newest version of Windows 11 has shrunk to a record small size: one user who specializes in creating Windows 11 distributions managed to shrink the software platform to 100 megabytes and run it in text mode. By comparison, the image size of the original Windows 11 ISO file is about 7 gigabytes.

In order to achieve such a record-breaking reduction in the size of the operating system, the specialist removed all GUI files from it, as well as got rid of a full set of applications. Despite these optimizations, the system itself remained functional and efficient, albeit at a noticeably slower pace.
It should be noted that the system takes up 1.91 gigabytes of memory once installed on disk, but that’s significantly less than the standard version, which requires about 64 gigabytes of disk space in its deployed, i.e., working, state.
