Google Bard will use Google’s Imagen family of models to create images. As a reminder, Imagen was introduced in 2022 and handles complex queries better than DALL-E 2. Google is currently testing the Imagen-based Search Generative Experience (SGE) feature in the search engine. Imagen 2 was introduced in late 2023, generating more realistic images. The model has improved context understanding and provides rendering of realistic hands and faces. The technology is already available to Cloud developers and customers through the Imagen API in Google Cloud Vertex AI.
