Samsung to supply Nvidia with 10,000 HBM3E chips

According to Korean publication AlphaBiz, Samsung has signed an agreement to supply 10,000 HBM3E memory chips in a 12-layer configuration for Nvidia’s artificial intelligence gas pedals.
Why it matters
About a month ago, it was reported that Samsung’s HBM3Es had finally passed Nvidia’s quality certification. Previously, the American manufacturer did not buy memory from the Koreans for its solutions because it did not meet its standards. Now Samsung is entering the high-performance AI memory market, where demand is growing rapidly.
What the chips are
The chips in question are presumably the top-of-the-line HBM3E-12H with 36GB of capacity and 1,280GB/s of bandwidth. This model was introduced in 2024 and is considered to be one of the most advanced on the market.
Context
The growing interest in artificial intelligence is fueling demand for server farms that utilize Nvidia and AMD gas pedals. HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) is critical to their operation. Only three companies currently produce it: Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron.
The closing of the deal with Nvidia means for Samsung not only an increase in revenue and profits, but also a stronger position against its competitors. Analysts say the order could have a positive effect on the company’s stock price.
