Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A17 4G in Europe

Samsung has expanded its lineup of affordable smartphones by introducing the Galaxy A17 4G. The new product has already gone on sale in Germany for €199 and will soon be available in other European countries. The model is largely the same as the 5G-enabled version that came out a month earlier, but differs in terms of processor: instead of an Exynos 1330 chip, the company has used a MediaTek Helio G99.

The rest of the specs are identical between the two versions. The Galaxy A17 4G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. The smartphone has an IP54 rating, which guarantees resistance to dust and splashing water. A 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support is responsible for battery life.

Out of the box, the device runs Android 15 with the company’s proprietary One UI 7.0 shell. Samsung said it will support the Galaxy A17 with six major Android and One UI updates. Software features worth noting include the built-in Gemini voice assistant and Circle to Search, which lets you search for information right from the screen.

The smartphone’s main camera consists of three modules: a 50 MP main sensor with optical stabilization, a 5 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro camera. The front camera has a resolution of 13 MP. The smartphone is capable of recording video in Full HD at 30 frames per second.

The hardware base is complemented by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card up to 2TB. Communication features include — 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS and a USB-C port. The 7.5mm-thick body weighs just 190g, and the design features Samsung’s signature Key Island design, which includes a fingerprint scanner.

The Galaxy A17 4G is thus a more affordable alternative to the 5G-enabled version, while retaining its key features: high-quality AMOLED screen, large battery, modern software and optically stabilized cameras.
