Samsung Foundry could be in the business of manufacturing Google’s next TPU
It was reported earlier this month that Samsung could be a supplier of HBM4 chips for a future Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) designed to accelerate artificial intelligence tasks. At the time, the South Korean company denied this information. However, it has now emerged that Samsung’s Foundry division may still get a more significant role — to directly produce the next generation of TPUs for Google.
According to a new report on social network X, top Google executives have visited Samsung’s semiconductor plant in Taylor, Texas, to discuss possible TPU shipments. Google is developing the processor with Broadcom, and it’s expected to be about 80 percent cheaper than Nvidia’s H100 gas pedal while delivering comparable or even better performance.

Samsung’s contract chip business has had trouble attracting customers in recent years. However, that has begun to change, with the company making advances in technology, including the development of the second-generation 2nm SF2P process. This has already allowed Samsung to win contracts to produce chips for Apple and Tesla.
