Meta unveiled new Ray-Ban Display smart glasses with screen

At the Meta* Connect 2025 conference, Mark Zuckerberg showed off an updated line of wearable devices, the main one being the Meta* Ray-Ban Display smart glasses. The novelty got a display in the lens and interacts with the Meta* Neural Band bracelet.

Meta* Ray-Ban Display: specs

The glasses feature a 600×600 pixel display with up to 500 nits of brightness built into the right lens. Control is via a Meta* Neural Band that captures hand movements and allows you to perform actions from selecting buttons and controlling the interface to typing.

  • Operation time – up to 18 hours
  • water protection,
  • gesture support for interacting with the glasses.

The glasses also have a built-in An AI assistant that analyzes audio and video, prompting the user with useful information via the display or speakers in the temples.

The Meta* Ray-Ban Display will cost $799, with sales starting September 30. It will be available in two colors: black and sand.

Other Meta new products*

  • Ray-Ban Meta* Gen 2 ($329) – 3K video shooting, 8-hour battery, available today.
  • Oakley Meta* Vanguard ($499) – sports version with 12 MP camera, integration with Strava and Garmin, release October 21.
  • Meta* Horizon Engine – a tool for 3D environment capture with the Quest Headset, customizing virtual worlds and creating more realistic VR scenes.

Perspectives

According to Mark Zuckerberg, Meta* Ray-Ban Displays should take over some of the functions of a smartphone: quick replies to messages, viewing notifications, searching for information. They’re unlikely to replace the phone entirely, but the form factor looks promising for simple tasks.

But Meta* still has serious privacy issues that could put some of its audience off. Still, the very concept of smart glasses with a display looks to be one of the most realistic attempts to bring the “post-smartphone” era closer.
