Huawei has unveiled the affordable foldable smartphone Nova Flip S
Huawei has officially unveiled the Nova Flip S foldable smartphone in China. The new product is the successor to the original Nova Flip, but most importantly — it comes with a significantly lower price. The Nova lineup is traditionally considered Huawei’s more affordable series, but the first Nova Flip started at a rather high price — 5,288 yuan (about $740). The new Nova Flip S starts at 3,488 yuan (about $490), making it the brand’s most affordable foldable device in the Chinese market. The new Nova Flip S is priced from 3,488 yuan (about $490), making it the brand’s most affordable foldable device in the Chinese market. From a design perspective, the Nova Flip S doesn’t differ much from its predecessor: it retains its 6.9mm thickness, 195 grams weight, and recognizable body design. That said, Huawei has added new color options — «Sky Blue» and «Sandy Black with Pearlescent». Also available are the previous shades — «New Green», «White Zero», «Sakura Pink» and «Starry Black». The exterior screen remains the same —a square 2.14-inch display with a resolution of 480×480 pixels. It supports dynamic themes, fun pet animations, custom wallpapers and interactive call windows. The user can also pin quick access apps on it — such as weather, schedules or QR code payment. The «live windows» feature can display up-to-date information such as flight status or food delivery. An interactive call window can also be used to display up-to-date information such as flight status or food delivery. The main internal screen — a 6.9-inch LTPO display with a resolution of 1136×2698 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120 Hz. Thanks to the «drop» hinge mechanism, folding is almost imperceptible, and Swiss SGS certification guarantees reliability up to 1.2 million folds. At the top of the screen, the display has been designed to be folded to a maximum of 1.2 million folds. The smartphone features a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and accidental splash protection. The main camera includes a 50-megapixel sensor (f/1.9) and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2). The 32MP front camera supports 4K video recording with electronic stabilization (AIS). The device runs HarmonyOS 5.1, but Huawei hasn’t revealed which processor is used in the model. The Nova Flip S is available in two variants: the 256GB storage version costs 3,488 yuan (about $490), while the 512GB model — 3,788 yuan (about $530).
