Galaxy S26 Ultra could be the new benchmark among smartphones

Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S26 Ultra with a screen that will be brighter and thinner than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, according to ETNews. The new product is expected to beat not only its predecessor but also the iPhone 17 Pro to become the most advanced display on the market.”

Samsung is preparing the Galaxy S26 Ultra Ultra, which will have a brighter, thinner screen, according to ETNews.

Next Generation Display

Galaxy S26 Ultra should get an OLED panel based on M14 material. This development promises higher brightness, lower power consumption and longer lifespan. M14 is considered to be the latest technology for OLED screens, and it was previously reported that the iPhone 17 Pro would get it, but there’s no confirmation of that yet.

Additionally, Samsung is going to apply Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology. This allows a color filter to be built right into the OLED’s protective layer, eliminating the need for a separate polarizer. This approach makes the screen thinner and increases brightness by reducing reflections. CoE was previously only used in Samsung’s foldable smartphones starting in 2021. If the company implements it in a regular flagship first, it will be a notable advantage over Apple, which is preparing a similar solution for the iPhone Anniversary.

Lineup Galaxy S26

Besides the Ultra, the series will include the Pro and Edge models. According to sources, they will retain the display based on the M13 material used in the Galaxy S24 and S25. The Pro will get a 6.27-inch screen, the Edge — 6.66 inches, and the Ultra — 6.89 inches.

Galaxy S25 Ultra has shown good sales, but the iPhone 17 Pro is already a hit. To avoid losing ground to its rival, Samsung is banking on breakthrough screen technology, and plans to redesign and improve the cameras. That said, sources warn that the battery could prove to be the device’s weak point.
