Honor has launched the global version of Magic 8 Pro after its success in China
Honor has started selling its flagship Magic 8 Pro smartphone internationally, following its launch in China last month. The new product is one of the first devices based on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and is almost identical to the Chinese version, except for some battery specs and charging speed.
The Honor Magic 8 Pro features a 7,100mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging support. The Chinese version has a slightly larger battery of 7200 mAh and 120W wired charging. All other specifications are the same for both versions.
The smartphone runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. It gets a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution (1256 x 2808 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate and peak HDR brightness of up to 6000 nits. At the heart of the device is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with Adreno 840 GPU. The model is available with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of onboard storage.
The Honor Magic 8 Pro’s camera includes three modules. The main sensor is a 200-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, 3.7x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. The module also has a 50-megapixel sensor with CIPA 5.5 stabilization and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. On the front, there’s a 50-megapixel selfie camera and a 3D depth sensor.
The device is IP68, IP69 and IP69K rated to ensure protection from dust and water. Communication modules include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS (capturing positions via GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou), NFC, OTG and USB Type-C. The smartphone has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a number of sensors including accelerometer, gyroscope, infrared sensor, light sensor and proximity sensor. The dimensions are 161.15 x 75 x 8.32 mm and the weight is 219 g.
Prices in China start at 5,999 yuan (about $840) for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The smartphone is available in colors: black, white, azure, and gold-sand
